About Our Conference
PLEASE NOTE: THE ASLS IN-PERSON SKILLS TEST will be held in the St. Mary Medical Center - Sim Lab.
Please contact Marie Marvel (from GNI) via email at mmarvel@gnineuro.org with any questions.
This course is used to train thousands of EMS personnel, nurses and physicians from hundreds of institutions across the US and abroad. ASLS provides a unique neurologic assessment tool used in your clinical practice, and satisfies education requirements for stroke center certification.
Blended Learning Format:
Blended Learning courses consist of both an online, self-directed portion, followed by an in-person skills testing session with an ASLS Instructor. In the online component, learners follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs, for not only their performance, but also their self-reported confidence levels. In-person skills tests will challenge learners to apply the skills and knowledge obtained from the online portion to correctly perform neurologic exams, diagnose, and manage patients with stroke.
Major Learning Goals:
- Describe why early treatment of stroke may result in a marked reduction inthe risk of disability
- Identify the 5 main stroke syndromes and relate them to pathophysiology and clinical signs
- Perform a focused evaluation to identify stroke, its location and severity
- Explains the care and monitoring of acute ischemic stroke patients and post t-PA administration and endovascular procedures
- Recognize t-PA indication and contraindications
